Bonnie Garcia’s handcrafted pens are already supremely popular amongst many Northern Californians through word of mouth alone. We are extremely honored to carry them and offer them to a larger audience. Bonnie creates wood and acrylic-barrelled pens, though exotic wood pens are her specialty. Praised for their beauty and quality, these pens will last you a lifetime. They are easy to refill and change-up because of their compatibility with Parker and Schmidt refills.

Of her process, Bonnie says, “ I start by choosing a special piece of wood. I enjoy working with burls as they tend to produce beautiful swirls within the finished pen. No two pieces of wood are the same-- even if they come from the same board. I begin with a five inch long piece (blank) which is an inch square on the ends. I cut the blank to length and drill the appropriate size hole for the pen after which I  glue a brass tube into the drilled hole. I then put the blank on my lathe and turn it, hand-shaping it with my tools. The pen is sanded in six steps using 150 - 1200 grit paper. After sanding, the pen is finished by applying sanding sealer, paste wax, friction polish, and lastly, carnauba wax. The acrylic pens are created in a similar fashion, except all finishing comes from sanding (finished with fine grit wet-sanding). The working mechanisms for the pens are chosen to enhance the quality of the wood and acrylic.”
